The Arizona Wranglers drew the #2 overall pick in the 1983 USFL Draft, second only to the Los Angeles Express.

The Wranglers subsequently traded the pick to the Chicago Blitz in exchange for the #6 overall pick and the Blitz' 5th round choice, with which they picked up the rights to RB Eric Dickerson and LB Blanchard Montgomery.

The Wranglers also traded their 5th and 16th round draft choices in the 24-round draft, to the Washington Federals and New Jersey Generals, respectively.
