STALLIONS
TRIVIA |
| -- |
| Having
been a former assistant with the Pittsburgh
Steelers, head coach Rollie Dotsch brought a lot
of former Steelers with him to the Birmingham
Stallions. |
| -- |
| Chief
among them was Cliff Stoudt, who for years had
toiled as the back-up quarterback to Pro
Football Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw. |
| -- |
| Relatively
unappreciated if not outright scored in the
Steel City, Stoudt was warmly received by the
Birmingham faithful and throughout the USFL,
except... in Pittsburgh. |
| -- |
| In
1984 when the Maulers came into existence, the
Stallions were scheduled as the team's first
home opponent. The result was the only
sellout the team ever saw - with most of the
fans coming out both to satisfy their curiosity
about the Maulers, and to pelt Stoudt with
snowballs. |
