SHOWBOATS TRIVIA

--
Under the USFL Constitution, the Showboats (as well as all other teams) were required to pay teams visiting the Liberty Bowl either 40% of the gross receipts, or $100,000, whichever figure was higher (or, if it was agreed upon in advance, the $100,000 was paid).
--
In cities such as Washington, Los Angeles and San Antonio, owners would take the $100,000 without thinking twice, but with Memphis they whipped out their calculators - with Showboats attendance on the rise during the latter part of 1984, often it was better for the owners to choose the 40%.
