PANTHERS
TRIVIA |
| -- |
| The
1984 USFL Draft was the largest in the league's
history in terms of the number of players
selected (405). |
| -- |
| The
1983 USFL Draft consisted of more rounds - 24 as
opposed to 19. |
| -- |
| Thanks
to General Manager Jim Spavital's wheeling and
dealing however, the defending USFL champions
selected a total of 24 players over the course
of the 19 rounds. |
| -- |
| For
1984 the Panthers were aligned into the Central
Division together with the Chicago Blitz,
Houston Gamblers, Oklahoma Outlaws and San
Antonio Gunslingers. |
| -- |
| As
the division consisted of three expansion teams
and the Chicago Blitz, who were essentially the
transplanted Arizona Wranglers, the Panthers
were picked to run away with the division title. |
| -- |
| Instead,
it would be the expansion Houston Gamblers that
took home the 1984 Central Division title, going
13-5-0 compared to the Panthers 10-8-0 record. |
