INVADERS TRIVIA

--
The USFL's decision to move to a fall schedule beginning in 1986 effectively killed the 1983 champion Michigan Panthers franchise.
--
Panthers owner A. Alfred Taubman, realizing that his team wouldn't have the same level of access to the Pontiac Silverdome as the NFL's Detroit Lions, decided to either relocate the club, fold it or merge it with another.
--
After negotiations between the Oakland Invaders and Oklahoma Outlaws on a potential merger fell through, Taubman approached Tad Taube about a merger between their franchises.
--
The result was a merger between the Panthers and Invaders, with the Invaders as the surviving team but Taubman as its majority owner.
--
The key position players from the 1984 Panthers were appended to the Invaders, with a dispersal draft being held to allocate those players that weren't protected by the merged club.
