Among those chosen in the 1984 USFL territorial draft by the Invaders was Cal LB Ron Rivera, who later went on to a successful coaching career in the NFL.
For 1984, each of the twelve charter USFL franchises were allowed to select 20 players in the territorial phase.
The Invaders could select players from Stanford, Cal, San Jose State, Fresno State, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
