GAMBLERS TRIVIA

--
Jim Kelly's USFL rights were acquired by the Gamblers from the Chicago Blitz via trade on July 10, 1983.
--
On October 7 the Gamblers would make another trade for a player's rights, acquiring the rights to star RB Billy Sims from the New Jersey Generals.
--
Sims would sign a 5-year, $3.5 million contract with the Gamblers, but later sued to get out of the deal claiming a conflict of interest on the part of Gamblers majority owner Dr. Jerry Argovitz.
--
After a three-day trial Sims won the case, and went on to finish his career with the NFL's Detroit Lions.
