The Bulls picked up a pair of notable players from other USFL teams after the 1984 season.
Running back Mike Rozier joined the team after the Bulls expansion brethren, the Pittsburgh Maulers, folded after just one season in the league.
The Bulls also traded with the New Jersey Generals to add veteran quarterback Brian Sipe to their roster for 1985.
These additions and others helped fuel the improvement of the Bulls, from 6-12-0 in 1984 to a 9-9-0 finish the following year.
Had the USFL played its planned fall 1986 season, the team likely would have been even more competitive, having merged with the Denver Gold after the 1985 season.
