BANDIT
TRIVIA |
| - |
| The
entity that formally owned the Bandits franchise
was known simply as "Football Partners,
Ltd." The team later would be owned
by "Tampa Bay Bandits Football Club,
Inc." |
| - |
| Despite
the presence of standout RB Gary Anderson, the
leading rusher for the Bandits in 1983 was
rookie Greg Boone, who gained 694 yards on 174
carries. |
| - |
| In
1983, Jimmy Jordan and John Reaves split time at
quarterback. Reaves would win the job
outright for 1984. |
| - |
| During
the 1985 post season, John Reaves was released
by the Tampa Bay Bandits in a contract
dispute. Had the league played in 1986,
Reaves would have played for the Orlando
Renegades. |
| - |
| As
a limited partner of the team, actor Burt
Reynolds was prominently associated with the
Bandits, appearing among other things on the
team's 1983 media guide. |
| - |
| Tampa
Stadium, home of the Bandits, was demolished in
1999 after the construction of Raymond James
Stadium. |
| - |
| Local
media quickly dubbed Steve Spurrier's pass-heavy
offense "Banditball." |
| - |
| Tampa
Stadium hosted the 1984 USFL Championship Game,
in which the Philadelphia Stars defeated the
Arizona Wranglers, 23-3. |
