BANDITS
TRIVIA |
| -- |
| Among
the Bandits territorial selections in 1983 was
Nate Newton of Florida A&M, who after the
USFL went on to play with the NFL's Dallas
Cowboys, earning three Super Bowl rings. |
| -- |
| TE's
Zeke Mowatt and Mike Mularkey were also selected
by the Bandits in the territorial draft, but
would sign with NFL clubs. |
| -- |
| The
USFL Territorial Draft was a misnomer of
sorts. Rather than gather together as with
a college draft, each team would send a list of
players to the Commissioner's office,
"protecting" them from the college
draft and claiming their rights. |
| -- |
| The
Commissioner's office in turn would send out
these lists to all teams, prohibiting them from
being picked in the regular college draft. |
