TRADING

Trading deadline will be 4:00 p.m. (E3T) on the Wednesday following when all clubs will have played nine (9) games and will extend to the day after the playing of the League Championship Game.

Before a trade is approved by the League Office, both clubs must notify the League Office in writing of the details. If the two messages do not coincide, the League will not accept the trade. If accepted, the trade will be promulgated to all clubs via the next personnel notice.

These messages serve as memoranda of agreement until official trade papers are approved by the Commissioner. Clubs involved in a trade should agree on which club will draw the agreement. This is executed in triplicate and sent on to the other club; which, in turn, signs all copies and sends them to the Commissioner. The completed papers should be in the League Office ten (10) days after the trade.

All conditions affecting trades must be specified in the original notification to the Commissioner of the trade and in the trade agreement papers. If the written conditions do not cover subsequent events which result in the assignee club having use of the player on its active list at a later date, or in obtaining value for him through a subsequent trade, the original assignee club shall have no recourse.

Trading back to the original club in the same calendar year will be prohibited; e.g., Philadelphia trades Jim Jones to Washington - Washington may not trade Jones back to Philadelphia in the same year.

In a trade involving a third or subsequent party, player must be on the active or inactive list of a second or subsequent club for a minimum of four (4) games; e.g., Philadelphia trades Jim Jones to Washington - and Washington in turn trades Jim Jones to Chicago; Philadelphia may not reacquire Jones via trade until he has been active or inactive witn Chicago or any other club for a minimum of four (4) games.

The original trading club cannot reacquire player via waivers unless player has been active or inactive for a minimum of four (4) games. Original waiving club (last club to waive player) cannot reacquire player via trade unless player has been active or inactive with a club for a minimum of four (4) games.
