CONTRACT FILING CHECKLIST

MEMORANDUM

DATE:  November 18, 1982
FROM:  Carl Marasco, Director of Player Personnel
TO:  All Clubs
SUBJ.:  Player Contracts-Filing

Every player contract, including all attachments, must be filed in the League Office by the club within ten days after execution.

The League has processed over 1,000 contracts to date and to insure continued prompt handling, clubs are requested to use care not only in contract language but also in following correct filing procedures. Below is a contract checklist we ask you follow when submitting Player Contracts.

1. Send to the League office all contracts signed and all bonus riders and any other attachments.
2. All copies of the contract should be signed by an
authorized club representative and the player. No carbon for signatures!
3. All changes should be initialed by both parties to the contract.
4. All contracts must be dated.
5. Players permanent address should be on all contracts.
6. Multi-year contracts should be on separate documents.
7. A player information sheet must accompany contracts. It is necessary in checking player eligibility.
8. "Agreements" are no longer accepted by this office. The USFL Player Contract is the only acceptable document being processed by this office.

Please be certain that all persons in your organization authorized to handle Player Contracts are familiar with this checklist.
